Dubbed the "Neiman Marcus Cookies" allegedly due to a customer who mistakenly paid US$250 for this cookie recipe thinking she was being charged US$2.50.
I tried my hand at these after craving something sweet. My mom gave me a calender with a cookie recipe for each day! This was one of them (adapted from the book 500 Cookies).
*Excuse the blurry photo - I was a little too excited to eat them!
NEIMAN MARCUS COOKIES
makes 2 dozen
1/2C sweet butter
1C light brown sugar
2tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2C all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. instant coffee powder (I omitted this since I didn't have any on hand but recommend it to cut some of the sweetness)
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 375 Degrees F. Beat butter and sugar together and then add egg and vanilla. Sift together the remaining dry ingredients, including coffee powder. Stir dry ingredients into the butter mixture and mix in chocolate chips. Roll into balls on a non-stick baking sheet 2in apart. Bake 8-10 mins. Cool for 5 mins.
I recommend eating while warm or warming it up later on to eat - melty chocolate = perfection!
